Hello there folks,

Just wanted to show you two nice knives we just got in.

First I would like to wellcome newcomer Remo Nogueira, from the central part of the country, Minas Gerais State were they have great food and fine women.

Remo is a martial artist and is into swords and japanese style. He made this 10" tanto in work polish, single etch. Handle and sheath are from the same imbuia burl piece, wich is quite hard to find this days. It's a fine grained hardwood, very dificult to be carved due to the chaotic grain structure and the man did a good job with it.

The second knife is a chef damascus knife from Luciano Dorneles. Blade is 10" long, with integral bolster integrated with the choil in a classic design. Handle is deep red snakewood.

As usual, all comments are greatly apreciated!

(Just thinkin' how different a thread with the same title would be in the Cove);) :D

Both of those knives are stunning. The integral chefs knife by Dorneles just floors me! The wood on both are stunning too! Two  !!!!

No red-blooded male can open a thread like this without *some* anticipation of bronze flesh... :D

That said, I agree on the selection as being WAY above average. An integral with a tapered tang is a thing of joy. Placing it on a working knife is even more credible.

Thanks Jeff!!

Yeah I have to say the Dorneles really does it for me. Awesome damascus.

I also look forward to seeing more from Remo Nogueira. While I'm not typically that into Japanese style knives, Mr. Nogueira appears to do some real clean work.

Thanks for sharing these, Jeff.

I was able to handle Luciano´s knife at the SPKS and have to tell you that it is really great - and the proof is that Luciano got Best Fixed Blade Maker this year with it.
Unfortunatelly, I had little time to check Remo´s Japanese inspired stuff in depth but his table was full all the time. Remo is a great guy to whom I still owe a big favor.
The SPKS pics I promised... I know, I know, I just have to edit and upload them...

Thank you all for the nice comments.

Luciano needs no introductions, you all know his work already.

For those who like japanese style, Remo is becoming a good maker in the style and is improving fast. The fact he uses brazilian exoctic woods in some of his pieces is also good. gives it a nice flavour. But he´s got a taste for swords in general and we might have a roman gladius available in the near future.

The construction of the chef's knife is over the top and the choil incorporated into the integral bolster is superbly done. The Damascus is beautiful as well as that Snakewood.I'm floored.

Both are nice, but.....

......that Snakewood and Damascus is absolutely fantastic.....what a fine piece of work.
