Two brick forge details?

I've seen the picture of the two-brick forge (Even have Wayne Goddard's book) But I can't find anything that tells what the inside of the two-brick forge is shaped like.
Is this it? (Heat hole centered, and all the way through first brick. Fire hole's center is at bottom of heat hole, sorta angled up into it. First half of second brick finishes the heat hole?)

Which way do you aim the flame? I read that you should make the flame swirl into the heat hole, but is it towards the hole in the front, or towards the second brick?
Also, it seems like perhaps there would be hot and cool zones in there like a microwave burrito. Is this a problem? If so, wouldn't by the time the cool spot stopped making the magnet stick, hot spots would be damaged?
One last thing. Does the blade just sit in the heat hole with no device/grove to hold it? If so, is it edge up or edge down?

Sorry for all the questions, and thanks for the help. :D

I made mine with the bricks side by side and the inner hole was sort of oval. I put the burner hole at the top to one side, about 2/3rds the way down, and sort of pounting forward a little. I do not think you need yours two brickd long, but wider helps to get two blades in at one time. Then you can pound one while you heat the other.
I put a few left over chunkd of brick, from making the holes, in to sit the blades on so they were a little off the floor of the forge.
It does have cool and hot spots, but if you make small blades you can heat the whole blade enough to do the job. In mine I managed to make 3 to 4 inch blades quite easily, larger was a bit of a strech, but think to yourself, big blades are over rated, and this is a great way to start out.
Cheers Ron
