Man, I really am getting in to slippies! I was bored today so I remembered I wanted to put my zip code into the Case Dealer Locator. I could not believe it when a hardware store, only a half hour away, came up in Williamson, NY was a case dealer. Off I went! They had a large selection of Cases. Maybe
50+ different patterns and many different handle types. It was busy in their and I looked through the glass forever, so when I had to choose, I bought the knife without looking or opening the box. It is a Pen pattern, USA 32087CV is stamped on the tang. When I got home I discovered that it was CV steel! I was so happy. I thought it might be by looking at the blades through the glass. It had a nice grind angle and a sharp point.

My other find was on the way home on saw an antique shop and stopped in. I saw a nice knife I really liked. The tang is stamped, Scharade Walden NY USA, 835Y. I did a google search but only saw a stockman style but one of the the blades is different from mine. The blades have never been sharpened (I don't think), the snap on the blades is very impressive. Especially on the main blade, you can see the spring is extra thick for that blade.

It was a very good day:D

Good score on both blades!! :thumbup:I don't think there's a cure for slippy fever - have fun.

Mike

Thanks! I believe you are right, there will be no cure.
Now as I look at my Scharade, the blades may have been sharpened. No big deal. It is built like a tank, but is also light. Is the handle plastic? I think so. I love the blade on this better than the straight blade on the stockman. This may be my new EDC. Someone took great care of this knife.

Hey they look good, there really is no bad ones, some just better than others, Good Find

Fantastic scores there kodiak!. You may already know this, but just in case you don't, the Schrade Walden stock knife is quite vintage and has got the best old carbon steel for taking and holding an edge. I have got more than a few of that vintage Schrade that I edc on a regular basis and they cut like the dickens. BTW, if you don't minding me asking, what did you give for her?

Cool scores for sure! Congratulations on your find.

Thanks for the interest guys! The Case is a real beauty. I am usually not partial to the plastic yellow handles. In fact these are the first two I owned. They are growing on me though.

Any Information I can get on the Scharade is wonderful, thank you sunnyd. I am excited to put an edge on the blades and see how they cut! I paid $48.00 for the knife, It was listed for $60.00 at 20% off. The tag had the date of the knife between 1940 to 1948. I don't automatically believe that, but I don't know either. Look how much thicker the spring is than the spring on a Case Jack pattern. I love it, It's got great walk and talk. Better than most. IMO

The dates on the Schrade Walden stock knife seems to be consistent with that vintage. If you would like to date that little beauty accurately though go over to the Schrade forum here at BF which is under the Collectors sub-forum I believe. They have some real nice folks over there who are extremely knowledgeable that will be able to give you lots of information on your Schrade knife. And you did fine on the knife IMO. You are going to love that steel after you get her scary sharp..

WOW... You were right, I have sharpened each blade at 30 degerees on a spyderco sharpmaker. I love the edge it produced. By far, the best user to date. I'm in love.
