Two different Remoras?

I was recently searching the giant river's website for a Becker Remora. There were a few purchasing options from different sellers. One thing I notice is that there are two different Remoras.
Notice the extra hole near the fingerguard on the lower knife. Is one a newer model than the other? If so, which is the newer?

I kind of like the lower one, with the extra hole, better.
Thanks.

Don't think I've seen that one with the guard hole before. Might have been a prototype pic like how alot of sites still show the saber ground BK-16s as the production ones...When I first clicked on this I thought you were refering to the China and USA made remoras.

Now don't quote me on this. But I remember seeing a Remora with the lower hole in it in Ethans shop during the fall gathering. if my memory is correct I believe it was laying on the table with a lot of other knives that where prototypes. I won't mention any names but seems there's another maker on these forums that has enjoyed a high level of success that claims the rights to the placement of that hole.

I thought that was what the Remora was originally supposed to look like (with the 2 holes), but then there was some sort of trademark dispute with Busse so they took it out of the production model.

Jerry is proud of that hole......No dispute.... He called and we got to save money......
