I was talking to a friend from Norway, and we were discussing a Natchez Bowie in San mai III I was given as a present. He said he had the smaller natchez and wanted the big one. When did Cold Steel make a smaller Natchez and is it available through anyone in the states?

This is the picture he sent me of it. It's about 10" blade, and a straighter blade than a normal Natchez.

And this is my normal San mai III Natchez

Sorry for your friend because that must be a fake. My Natchez is exactly like yours as well.

They didn't. It is a fake. I don't even see a lamination line on it.
That's what I was worried about. I was afraid that wasn't a real one, especially after I could find no reference to it anywhere. When he first mentioned it I thought something was lost in translation and it was a Laredo until he sent me that picture. Oh well.

I have a china made fake Laredo. I use it as a practice knife and saves my Laredo for serious use. . May be you friend could do same and get the real thing also.

After looking at that top pic, am I the only one that thinks the Laredo blade would look pretty damn good with the Natchez handle?

If Cold Steel ever does decide to make a shorter version of the Natchez I would buy one in a heartbeat! Hell, I'd buy a few.
