I just noticed that the two ST-56 that I have a very different.
The lower one has a larger logo, full grind vs the saber grind on the top one, penetrator point and a thicker handle that is more tan in color. I am waiting for a 3rd one from Ban to compare. Where there 2 or more versions?

Here is mine for comparison-

My bat. Saber grind on the regular and full flat on the lower one (the wierd one)

:confused:I don't know how to make my pictures bigger.
Also the holes on this vierd one are smaller and the leight of the blade is longer by 3mm.
The last picture of the handle thickness is upsidedown. The top one on that picture is the lower one on the others (the wierd one)

afifthofhog,
can you make out a saber line on yours. The logo and the holes look like my top one.

Vladi-

That one side by side shot really makes a difference. The top one is clearly thinner and more svelte looking.

I suppose you can chalk this up to individual variations on a semi production knife. Who knows- maybe the Boss and Garth were in grinding/ drinking contest.

Considering that these were variants hand ground from existing other blanks... I am not at all surprised that there are some slight variations.

I suppose that the difference in the two knives is just part of the fun of dealing in a semi-custom production knife. Other knives, Randall Made Knives for example, have the same type of slight differences. IMHO I think this adds to the "special" nature of the knives and makes it a bit less of a "cookie-cutter" blade.

I know this forums motto is "no regrets", but after seeing all of these pics of the ST-56, I sure regret letting go of the one I had.:( Oh well, I got a custom recurve coming from Bill Siegle in a few months, so that will definitely fill in the hole!:D:thumbup:

I've had 2 more like the top one (I gave them to my friends) and they were just like the top one. All the pictures I've seen here on the forum are also like the top one.
At first I thoght that maybe it is a replica because it feels and looks much more different in the hand than on the picture. It actually has a better balance and the thicker handles sit better in hand. This one came from Australia and maybe it is an overran
for an order in that country????

Shots of my "56". Different Camera Light..both same knife.

I understand what you are trying to say but I hold them both in my hands and they are very different. I just got another one from Ban and it is the same as my fist one. The weird one has penetrator point, thicker handles and no saber grind:confused:
