Two Don Hanson III Scary Tacs - The Pair Together

Don Hanson's Scary Tac is one of my very favorite knife designs. I'd owned a couple in the past, but parted with them, at friends' requests, hoping instead to finally have one in my own favorite "flavor". This lead to an order for a pair of Scary Tacs, the pair being tied together as such from the use of the same damascus material. Otherwise, each Scary was to be completely dissimilar from the other. Pay particular attention to the difference in blade profile.

As a teaser, while waiting for the photographer to finally finish the imaging process, I did a short thread (link below) about a week ago showing one side of the blade on one of the pieces , so that at the very least, the really cool Damascus of Don's could be checked out .

The professional imaging isn't apparently forthcoming anytime soon, near as I can figure, so here are my own, poorly shot/badly exposed images of this great pair.

Dayum!
Lovin that tortoise shell.
This one totally is kicking ass!

I guess the no more Damascus kinda went out the window, huh? [emoji6]

Unique damascus from Don!!! Love the scales and, most certainly, the bolsters

Congrats Bob!

Very nice, and my favorite of this model from Don.
I'm a fan of both tortoise shell and 'rain-drop' , 'oden's eye', 'tears of the wounded' or whichever of the names you want to call this pattern damascus.

Dudley, you have no idea how much flak I have taken in recent time (deservedly:rolleyes:), because of all my past comments about my (previous) dislike for Damascus. I fully expect this thread to generate more, though hope the flak will be in the form of some type of smiley face! Certainly the author of the post previous to this is probably laughing his head off at me (for good reason), and making ready to send me the biggest "I told you so" comment I'll ever receive (again, for good reason). But like they say, it's all good!:D

After much consideration, I've decided it was mistake to present this pair in a one-at-a-time format. Consequently, the title has been re-worded, the text slightly altered, but most importantly.......

images of this COMPOUND GRIND piece have been added to the initial post. Hope you enjoy.

And many thanks to DHIII for one helluva bitchin' set!
