The two-dot 110 features are: Made between 1974-1980, 440C blade steel, squared handle edges, knife weight 7.69 ounces or 218 grams, "the last versions produced without blade pivot bushings"*1, "made in the USA"** and what other distinguishing characteristics of two-dot 110s should I add here?

IIRC I bot this new and used it last to cut a hot dog cooking stick at a picnic on a beach on Oahu way back in the good gone days. I look at this knife today and I almost feel the warm breeze, the industrial-strength sun and the relaxed feeling you get from being on a beautiful speck of land in the middle of the Pacific Ocean goofing around.

I cleaned, waxed, sharpened and polished the edge of the blade. Note that some protective wax remained in the blade verbage making it look white.

Thank you for looking.

Great old knife......and we know it's authentic and made in the U.S.A.

I'm not too sure of some of the new ones since Runtai started making identical copies.

:D

Great looking two dot 110. Which beach where you on at the time? Your 110 is also the latter version of the two dots. They first came out with only two rivots holding the wood on, yours has three, like all of mine. I have two of them in my EDC rotation. HL

I'm trying to remember. I lived in Honolulu, down in the jungle, for two years back in the seventies. My two favorite beaches, in order: Makapuu (body surfing & chicks) & Hanama Bay (snorkeling and chicks). Back in those days, despite the constant trade winds, it was usually still to hot at these beaches for the fairer sun-bathers to keep all of their swim suit on.

The beach I used the knife on had brush, stick material, picnic tables and probably cooking pits/stoves...

I remember it because I cut my finger and a friendly, off-duty, nurse came over with a bandaid and a kind word. What you do to meet women! Turns out I married a nurse, just not that one.

Yes, I know the one you mean, I4Bucks.......I almost picked up one of those 1974 (two-rivet) ones a couple of weeks ago, but I got outbid.......would have liked to have had that.

Darn.

:)

I had a two pin knife that I won on the bay. Never did get to see it tough. The plane carrying it on its final leg went down seven miles off the coast of Kauai and now sits about a mile down. The plane and the pilot where not recovered. It made the local news but not the state side news. My drop point 110 in S 30v arrived the next week. HL

Sorry, that should be 1972 on that two-rivet.

I4, do you mean you got one recently and the plane went down?

This happened late 2007, early 2008. When Buck was offering the 111. My mistake it should have read 111, instead of the S 30v drop point. The 111 is seralized and you could only get one of them per member ship number. HL

sniff sniff ... non knife folks would find it strange for a simple
Buck Knife to bring back such wonderful memories....

Thank you all for taking a look and for your additions to just what the heck a TWO DOT is. Good stuff.

Man those old knives are nice lookin....whew:thumbup:

excellent parting shot-thanks, very handsome scales

Years ago I put together the 110 data sheet and it included information such as when the blade bushing was integral to the side, when there was and when there wasnt a bushing at all. I got complaints that it was too confusing since the only way a person would know that is if they took their knife apart. So I removed all that type of detail.
Anyways, I looked through my old notes and you can actually find a 2 dot 110with, and without a blade bushing. Only one way to tell though...
Great stories in this thread!

skyhorse depending on the time of year, and where you bought it, as far as hoe quick they sold them. It could have been a two line, or a three line. The two dots started in 1974. The two lines stopped in 1972, the three lines where from 1972-1974. Hope this helps. HL
