Greetings everyone,

Here are a couple of knives that I just finished up for two of my brothers. I guess you would call them Every Day Carries, but I expect they’ll use them for fishing. The blades are both CPM 20CV, sanded to 600 grit, and their edged portions are just under four inches (to stay legal in CT). CPM 20CV is great stuff, but it sure is miserable to hand sand . The handles on each knife are hunter orange G10. To keep with theme, the knives have matching orange Kydex sheaths and thongs. The pins and thong holes are titanium. I was going for corrosion resistance and high visibility (for salt water fishing/boating) with these knives. The sheaths are held together only by Chicago screws, so that they can be taken apart to wash out any fish guts. Feel free to let me know what you think.

I really like those, Chris. I'm gluing up some orange handles overnight, as a matter of fact.
Where in CT are you?

Thanks guys!

daizee, I'm in Tolland, CT. Where in New England are you?

Matt, I plan to be at Ashokan again this year. I believe it's a sword year, so maybe we'll see you there again too.

Wow Chris. Those are very nice, very clean. I really like them. How do you do the jimping? Do you use a checkering file?

Very nice ! Some of thephotos were a little confusing at first , as if there was a gap between the scale and blade but that was only the shadow -- no gap .

Thanks guys!

lukus, Yes, I used a Grobet checkering file. I got mine from MidwayUSA. Grobet makes the files in several different "lines per inch" configurations. I think I used a 30 tooth per inch file, but I'd have to count the teeth to be sure.

Thanks guys!

Hi Chris,

I'm over in southwest Lil' Rhody, but periodically head up through Hartford. Did you go to the Mystic show this year?

daizee, I just got back from Westerly last night (my parents live down there). Unfortunately, I forgot about the Mystic show until it was too late.

I really do like these knives. And the handles would make them hard to lose. I looked for something like this in just about every website on the www. I would love to purchase one just like these for EDC in a horizontal kydex sheath. I like the 6" to 7"OAL but would go 7 1/2" if I had too.
