Namaste All! It is me, Pala, again. I am sorry I have not been writing on this screen but I have been very busy repairing cracked handles on khukuris Bill Jwai has been saving for me over the past two years. I still have more work to do, repairing, and I will replace a couple of handles also.

As you know if we see a crack in a handle before we ship the knife we repair it or sometimes sell it as a discounted khukuri if the customer wants to repair it himself. And, as most of you know our guarantee covers both blade and handle. Some customers epoxy a crack in the handle themselves. Others will return the knife for replacement and then we epoxy the handle and sell the khukuri at discount. So, this is where I have been and I am not done yet. I apologize for being absent so much.

But, anyway, here are two excellent khukuris which had small cracks in the handles. I have repaired the handles myself with J. B. Weld epoxy with pretty fair success. I will offer the full HI guarantee on both khukuris.

top -- a 19 inch Ang Khola made by Ganga Ram as his first effort in shop 2. Testing the waters before he started his Ganga Ram Special run. You can see a similarity in this Ang Khola blade and the Ganga Ram Special blade. This blade is almost 1/2 inch thick and 2.5 inches wide. The knife weighs 2lbs, 4oz. Blade is excellently hardened and nicely finished. The blade is marked 10G, I suppose for Ganga. What the 10 means I have no idea. My kamis have a method of their own which nobody understands except them. This khukuri will last four lifetimes.

Pala's special price is $145 and I will pay shipping.

bottom -- this is an 18 inch WWII model made by our fine young kami, Kumar. The blade is almost 1/2 inch thick and 2 inches wide. Hardening is excellent and finish is very good. Only a small crack in the handle which I have repaired with good success. The blade is marked with the HI logo, SN 129 and marked (not stamped) "made in Nepal" on left side.

Pala's special price is $125 and I will pay shipping.

If anyone is interested email or call Bill Jwai.

Bill/Kami,

I missed Ganga Ram's Specials, so I will take his 19" AK, if it is available.

Dang! That's a great deal for the AK. Wish I could see it though. The pictures are corrupt again.

Maybe H.I. should have two websites. One not associated with AOL just to dump the picture files in.

Uncle Bill,

If Ganga Ram made anymore khukuris, you just let me know first

Ok, Goat, I'll do it. That khukuri Kumar made is a very good one -- not as beefy as the Ganga Ram AK but it is one you will have a very hard time bending or breaking.

Sing,
I think you just got the deal of the year on a genuine Ganga Ram khukuri - judging from mine, I have to think that all of his knives are Specials, regardless of what they are called. It's probably a good thing I worked late and didn't get online till just now. As many people as possible should have the opportunity to experience this master kami's work. Still, if for any reason you don't like it (Right-when pigs fly!

), just drop me an email and I'll wire you the money to take it off your hands

Berk,

If you want to talk me out of the Ganga Ram, you got to take better lessions in persuasive talking...

I am really looking forward to this one. Then, again, I look forward to each and every one that I've gotten.

My girlfriend just got SN 130 as a Christmas present for her father and it looks exactly like 129.

Good karda and chakma and excellent hardness on all blades. Tough to sharpen!

I must confess I like the lines of Ganga Ram's offering better Kumar's.

Only real problem with Kumar's is that the frog was _incredibly_ flimsy. Granted, this is not Kumar's fault. The belt loop is made of such thin, soft leather that it feels as if I could break it apart with my hands.

While I greatly prefer the quality of leather on the sheaths of the Ganga Ram Special, I would still prefer to trade cheaper leather on the sheaths in favor of an extra heavy duty frog.

Just my two cents.

Right, Ghost. We have them on order and I'll be getting extras here. Anybody who wants one of these heavy duty frogs (I sent a few out with khukuris -- these were prototypes -- but can't remember who got them. Maybe somebody who got one will take a pix so we can see what it coming. I should have done this myself. Sorry.)can have one for the asking. They will be here -- just am not sure when.

Got the Ganga Ram 19" AK today. Wow. Beautiful as well as hefty. I can't imagine how much heftier the Ganga Ram Special must have been. I love the curves on this blade.

Somehow the picture of Pala's latest offering of a villager sirupati and WWII has displaced the picture of the Ganga Ram AK and the Kumar's.

Well, no matter. I have the Ganga Ram to admire. Will test it out next week at camp in Maine.

Thanks Pala and Bill,
