A jig bone 331 Barlow sold for a whopping $330.50. Also ran was a yellow 'BUCK' shield Stockman for $152.50. Neither were in the box. Granted they are both hard to come by but ... WOW. There are some serious slip joint collectors out there. I'm humbled and ashamed at how poor my bidding was. Future Sunday picture show attendees?

Wow, some serious, well-heeled, slip joint collectors! That Barlow is nice! Imagine NIB... Preston

Sometimes you just have to have something. Bidding wars don't help.

They are sweet little knives though.

don't you just love this sickness we have.

That said, I think the guy who won these auctions is going to be a happy camper. I have some knives that are worth a lot of money and I just can't sell them because I like them more than the money.

often its due to folks ratcheting it up little by little over many days. getting it high and hoping everyone else has given up. sometimes they do sometimes they dont. also folks putting a super high bid hoping no one will go that high. then there is the collector missing one or couple items they have to have to complete or misses too many times and desperation kicks in.

in the end they pass on and their kids dont care and end up here on bf in the general forum asking what that room full of knives is worth.:)

nice ones but not worth that kind of money, to me anyways.

I was looking at the sold bucklites yesterday and was amazed at what the top ones went for. Big bucks for plastic handled knives.

I can sort of understand the price for the nice Barlow, but I cannot understand that price for that yellow Stockman, as nice as it is. I think it was bought more than $100 more than it is worth. Yikes!

The Buck stockman with that BUCK shield would be a hard one to find. I once had a SMKW add that showed that only 29 where available.

Chuck, I went and looked and have "one" 301 Yellow BUCK. Flat ground, not sure if I have box, scales very light yellow, 1987 date stamp. Your the SMKWs/Buck expert so will take your word for it on the just 29. There are small square stamp dots in the center tang on off side of both secondary blades. Can take macro of the "square" dots if needed for someone to see.

As Chuck knows, collecting in the late 80's and early 90's was a little easier, especially if you were lucky. If we had a time machine we would have been a lot luckier.

300

I've never seen this knife. It's beautiful! Congratulations to the winning bidder.

Don't forget there are short term trends and aberrations and that might be the case here. The price increase in 422's over the last 3 to 4 years has been steadily higher year after year. I think we sometimes take for granted low prices. ..I know I did especially for build out 112's. I'm still learning my lessons ! P
