At least I hope to make it to the Blade Show with these. :D

One is 416 SS with gold lip MOP and the other is 70-75 Aluminum with elephant ivory and both are ATS-34 blades. Five inches closed.

Thanks for looking and I hope you like them.

DANG! Those are awesome. I really like the inlay work you do. Wish I had a mill to try some but I don't think I'd have the patience for anything like those :)

Matt, you don't actually have to have a milling machine. You can do it on a drill press. Or as I did with my first ones, you can use a router. Where there's a will, there's a way. :)

WOW! Now that you posted pix's of them here, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't make the trip to the Blade Show! Very nice! :)

I hadn't thought of a router, have an old one somewhere thats about burned out....:D
My drill press is a little 12" delta thats nice and tight. I'm afraid to put any side loads on the spindle, because of all the horror stories I've heard of bearings going bad and chucks popping off. I know if you went easy it would probably work, but I'm a wimp ;)

Do you cut clear through the frames and back them with a liner? Or just cut a recess ? I've read a book where Ron Lake, mills out a recess. Haven't seen anybody use a liner, but I think it might be an easy way to start.

Beautiful as always, Steve! You have a very distinct look with your interframes. Great job!

I only cut out a pocket. The only time I ever cut one through was when the bit wasn't tight enough in the router and it worked it's way through before I noticed. So I roughted all the pockets through and didn't put any inlays in it at all. I let on like I did it on purpose. Ha-ha!! :D

If you take your time, using a rotory file in your drill press, you shouldn't do it any damage. Don't try it with an end mill, they chatter and grab.

Steve

Clydetz, I sure hope they make it, I'm about out of anything to take. :)

Thanks Coop, glad you like them!

Thank you Bruce!

Dawkind, a picture can never bring out all the stuff happening in pearl, but it was some nice pieces. :D

Those are stunning. I hope they make it to Blade.
Great looking work Steve!

Steve, I was going to e-mail you about those beauties but my spendable funds are way down anyway! Good luck at the Blade Show - with knives like those you'll be coming back FIRST CLASS!

I like the curves in the handle design, and how they play agianst the inlay design. That gold lip really shines. I would like to see it with some high end engraving. Nice looking work!

Thanks to everyone for all the nice comments. Now I'm going to have to a bigger hat! :D :D

Are you goimg to the show Gus? Swing by 12-B if you do.

That stainless/mop would be a "bear" to engrave, it's heat-treated to RC 40-43.

Thanks again!!:D
