First off, the wife and I did a little trout fishing this weekend. After bagging four trout, I got a chance to try out a couple different knives for cleaning them. The CRKT M16-11F did a nice job, but the blade is a little too thick for such fine work. On the other hand, the Cold Steel Bird and Trout knife was EXCELLENT!!! I can't believe I survived for 35 years without one. This thing was soooooo sharp, I accidentally cut the heads right off of two of the trout!!!! Wow!
My second great experience happened just a couple minutes ago. I've been banging my head about buying a sturdy folding knife for a while now. It would be used on my weekend retreats to the Adirondack Mountains. I wanted something that captures the essence of the outdoors. That means wood or stag handles, a touch as heck lock, and a mean sort of beater steel. Well, I tried out that cool new Design Your Own Knife feature from Bucks website. Wow!!!! I was able to build and order a Buck Folding Hunter with a serrated BG-42 blade, finger grooved stag handles and silver bolsters. I cant wait for this baby to come home to me. Ive been toying with the idea of using a 110, but wanted something serrated in a tougher steel. The rivetless stag handle was just icing on the cake. If you plan on buying a 110, definitely go the custom route!!!!!!
