Bob's Words

Hi Joe, its Bob F. with a couple of knives to share. For those who are just joining us, Bill Bagwell went to South Africa on Safari in 2007 and 2008 and both times took one of his Bowie knives with him. The 2007 knife is a forged carbon steel Bowie with 10.5" blade 1/4" thick and 1.75" wide. The fluted hilt has decoratlve file work and like the collar, pins and butt plate is polished iron. Cocobolo forms the handle and Bill carved palm swells with pins inset therein. It was selected to be the 2008 Bagwell calendar display knife. It feels lively, moves very quickly, and was toted by Bill over there. The month of May 2008 found Bill back for more black powder Sharps action but this time carrying a damascus Bowie with 10.75" blade 1/4" thick and 1 1/2" wide. The brass hilt is engraved "BAGWELL" on the trademark side and "AFRICA 2008" on the other confirming it's role in history. The stag handle has a thin brass plate double pinned to it, a nice touch that adds to the charm and compliments the vivid pattern of the blade. Feisty elegance comes to mind here. Thanks to all for following the threads and to Joe Paranee for posting!

Those are both exceptionally nice. Each has distinctive features. Great pin work and guard on the cocobolo one and the buttcap is cool on the stag one....and those blade shapes are WICKED!

Thanks for posting them Joe.

Cool pieces!

I really like the blade profile on the damascus piece, seems just a hint different that most HBs.

Man, I am really liking that cocobola handled knife. The description of how it handles along with the fine design details has me wishing it were mine!

Thanks for sharing them Joe!
