This is the first score I got today. It is a GEC NF Harness Jack with Horsecut Antique bone handles that I got in a trade from one of the forum members.

This is the second score I got today. It is a primo (98%) condition "Levine's Guide to Knives and Their Values" 4th Edition by Bernard Levine. I laid my new GEC Harness Jack across the top of the cover in order to show both scores in one picture.

Our town is a very small town with no decent magazine/book rack in any of the stores so we have a mobile book store that comes to town on an irregular basis to sell new and used books. I saw it parked and set up for business at a corner gas station when I went to town for lunch today. I walked into the back of the truck and laying on one of the display shelves was the book. I asked the lady who was operating the truck how much she wanted for the book and she said; "Since the book is used, I'll take 75% of the cover price". I handed her $21.00 and walked out of the truck and came home without getting my lunch at one of the local cafes.

This is my second copy of this book and the nicest one of the two so from now on, I can mark the other one up (underline) and make notes in the margins without feeling bad/guilty.

Great knife and great book too. My LG4 is an old used library copy, with laminated covers; I've scribbled notes & doodled all through it, all in pencil, so I can go through & erase it all one day if I want too.

Congrats on a good knife day. :)

I tell you what, it's an exceptional day there.

That Horsecut Bone needs to appear more often. I'd love to buy a Levine but you never find them here in EU.

Great pics Ed. They really capture the glow of those handles. Goood score on the book also. I HAVE to pick up a copy someday.

Nice score on the LG4....I've been hunting one of those for a while.

nice harness! how long is it? 4"?
gotta get the book one day too

The knife is 4 1/8" long. The main clip blade is 3" long.

Keep your eyes open and perhaps you'll stumble upon LG4 one day. I always have my eyes open for knife and gun books and have found some dandys in used book stores, gun shows, estate sales, and believe it or not at local rummage sales put on by various local organizations.

The ISBN (International Standard Book Number) for Levine's Guide To Knives And Their Values 4th Ed. is 0-87349-189-0. If you go to Amazon or most other online book sellers and just search that number, oftentimes used copies come up for really good prices. Good advice here: communicate with the seller first and make sure they have the fourth edition.

The other thing is library book sales. They have some good stuff too.

Great find on the LG4 and a great price. I have been looking for one. Found 2 on ABE books but the asking prices were in the neighborhood of $300 and $600.

If you keep an eye on Amazon, they'll show up for anywhere from $15. up to $50. for used copies, and I've seen them hit $650. but I don't think they'd ever sell for that much.

A good day, for sure.

Congrats on both!

There's a clearing house for used books that had two LG4s for sale in the neighborhood of $600.00 . One sold right away and the other sold about a week later. I guess some people will pay darn near anything if they want it bad enough.
