This weekend I got out with my Daughters boyfriend to do some hiking and go over his new gear. I have been mentoring him on gear, knives and things to learn as a new bushcrafter. He is eager to learn and this is our first outing.

Nothing special just two dudes wandering around on a very soggy spring day!

We played around with knives and practiced feather sticks. I think he really enjoyed it and it was fun passing on some knowledge.

thanks for looking!

Looks like fun! I chuckled to see his pack stuffed with what appears to be 3x the gear as your pack. How did the pocket rocket perform?

yeah the pack is much bigger then he anticipated and he is now looking for something smaller for day trips. The pocket rocket is a solid performer.

Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing. It's good to see the Spring Beauty (Claytonia virginica), at least that what it looks like to me, out. (I know, nice sentence structure :D )

I have never seen that cup with lid before, cool. Lovely pictures, quite interesting and pleasurable to view. My time, $$, and focus goes into metal detecting at this time of year. But I also absorb and appreciate my environment while out there. Watching the seemingly endless flights of Snow Geese and occasional Sand Hill cranes fly by. My Permethrin came in from the states and I got a set of Propper urban camo BDU in. Have to soak outfit for ticks, which are becoming increasingly worse here every year. The urban camo is not that white patched stuff, it is a subdued darker almost twilight pattern that should keep me low vis. I go into some really rough areas in towns and would prefer not to be a magnet for the drug induced psychosis types, which I see and try to avoid. The rip stop BDU should also help with the bush wacking. I have shredded pants etc. before. And every year the wife and I head north for time in the Boreal forest, were I also pick up a few more 1700's fur trade rings etc, while keeping an eye out for spring momma bears. So, although my focus is turned away for much of spring, summer, fall, my interests are still associated with your and other outdoor posts. My interests have a lot of cross over. Thanks for the post.

Cool post man, thanks for sharing! Man it has been hard to reply with all the glitching...

Good to see the generations bonding. The woods does make it easy. Looks like a nice part of the world. Thanks for sharing.
