...don't often put in my too cents, but I like to promote things that I think are worth it.
Just got a Competition Model from them. The fit and finish are very good,
the edge was not shaving sharp but a little work fixed that.
All in all a very light hawk, feels very good in motion...it would probably make a very good self-defense weapon.
Devin Price seems to be a very nice guy. I had originally ordered the hawk with a replacement handle,
but he forgot to send the handle with the hawk.
When I emailed him, he apologized and very quickly shipped out two (the second at no charge).
I too had read that less than stellar review from '06, but I thought, what the heck, glad that I did.
I will probably be ordering another from him in the future, more than likely a "Voyager" which has got a bit more "heft" to it.
The Hawk comes with a certificate of ownership/receipt that states that its warrantied against breakage for 25 years.
My research about these "cast" hawks was collected from the archives of this forum, and it tells me that they were once considered
a very good product back when the original "Two Hawks" owned and ran the business.
My understanding is that they are still made the same as before using the same materials and manufacturing.

I guess that the only negative comment I have is that the hawk and the spare handles were sent in triangular cardboard tube without
any kind of filler or wrapping, and although both shipments arrived without any damage from rubbing during the shipment, it might have.
