two kinds of Black Delica clip?

I have a Delica, with the current clip arrangement, but the clip is not the lame painted-over clip every other Delica has that I have seen. On mine, it almost looks like a PVD coating, although over the years it has worn a little. If it wasn't so dark it would be like a mirror.

This clip has always had a very thin and shiny black coating, but whenever I see other Delicas they have a more matted black coating that chips off easier than my old one.

I e-mailed Spyderco once and asked about it, and they said the clip coating has always been the same.

So am I the only one with a nice smooth shiny black clip?

The one's I have with metal clips are nice and shiny black also. It looks like it would easily chip off but it hasn't yet.

I think I may take the clip off of one of my black FRN one's and take off the paint, and buff it up nice and shiny. :)

The shiny clip I have seems to be holding up better than the painted clips. The shiny clip has been used for years and still looks pretty good, but the first painted clip I had started to lose little chunks in a few weeks leaving ugly contrasting bright spots.

I wish they would use the old (?) coating again. I hate the look of paint scraped off.
