Francisco Petean is one of our oldest makers in business and his work is highly sought after by collectors here and in the US. I don't usually have his peieces in stock but just received these two along with his photo album to scan - as he is now having a page made.
His work is clearly recognizable and he is one of those makers who can sign a knife with his own style, even if it is acustomer's design - what I think is something only the best makers can do.
The main characteristics of Petean's work are the mirror polish - seen in 90% of his blades and the abundance of all sorts of details like multiple blade surfaces, fileowrk, texturization of surfaces, etc.
When he got started, his name was soon associated to large bowies but now Petean does most anything the customer desires, from a tanto to a khukuri to a jambayia a puuko to a little skinner like the one pictured, and every time I talk to him he is experiencing with a new blade shape, a new handle material, etc.

These knives - both in 440C - are a bit simple for his usual style, and still show a lot of interesting details, like the insert in the stag handle on the large one and the texturization in the alternative ambar (whatever it is) slabs on the small skinner's.
Let me know what you think, guys.
