well... i had some time to spare so i thought i'd toss up my first review.
i purchased the CRKT M21-04 a little over a year ago... since then it has always been attached to my hip (cept when in school). right outta the box i knew it was a pretty good knife... the blade was very sharp and cut through fish and small wood like a hot spoon through butter.
so far it has been with me on 8 camping trips (winter spring and summer)... cut through small sapplings, thick rope, fish, and various other things.
the knife is a little heavy but i believe the weight is well worth it..
the blade is nice and thick.. i've gone through many lids of canned beans and beef with it and no bends or even chips.
the knife has a secondary manual locking mechanism near the top of the handle.. (where the blade meets the handle). its very nice because once in place theres no way that the knife will "accidentally" close on your fingers.
also it has a quick opening mechanism... means that you can open 'er up with one hand nice and quickly with a smooth swinging action. (i live in canada and here any knife that is spring loaded or centrifugal opening is considered illegal [i.e. switchblades and butterfly knives]) the part where u use to open the knife (back side of handle) also serves as a hilt so ur finger doesnt slip upwards during use.
i'd recommend this folding knife to anyone who loves to hike, camp, fish, and canoe. great to keep in your pocket.
for around a hundred bucks this is one knife you wont regret buying.

now the next knife i'd like to review is the muela scorpian... now the first time i saw this baby i thought to myself.. dang that is one big ass knife.
this knife was purchased about 2 years ago... been with me on every camping and day hike i've ever been on since then.
now on to the good stuff...
this knife has gone through thick and thin with me, been rained on
dropped in the sea, and caked in mud...
once again this knife has gone through many sapplings, fish, oysters, and other shell fish. when we go camping its a great help for building my little a-frames that i crawl under to sleep in (where i live [b.c.] you dont really need a tent to sleep in, just a tarp or an make shift a-frame).
i believe the size and weight of the knife is decent... its pretty light for its size.
although i use my M21 for delicate work, the point on the scorpion is just as good as the M21 for doing precise work, like making pins for snares.
although the knife is good on its own i've made a few modifications to it...
the leather sheath has been wrapped in para cord. i found a pouch from a very small leatherman that my father bought me when i was young and super glued it to the side of the sheath. inside that pouch is a small whet stone for sharpening on the go. i found a very small pipe which had one end closed, wrapped it in paracord and clued it to the side next to the pouch. inside i placed a round flint stone i bought from a local military surplus store...

with these two knives i've been through thick and thin, wet and cold, hot and sunny.
they have been a help in everything. and i'd definetly recommend them to ANYONE whos looking for a new knife... both knives were about a hundred bucks...
well, thats my first review, i know its a long read but i thought i should post about the two knives im never without. happi readings.
