So have a 4 and 6 year old daughter and have been putting away some Bucks for them (or future son-in-laws!). They only associate knives w/ Buck and Victorinox since even our kitchen knives are Buck. each holiday they pick one out with my wife for me and have already started asking when they can have a Buck. of course they have some Buck stickers and the stuffed Buck in their rooms along with all the princess and dance stuff and are quick to tell me i've got some more Bucks when they see that box w/ the red writing on the tape show up!
got em some including the 110 in 154CM, a 112/450BO, 118D2BO, Cabelas AG folding alpha, 120, BassPro bone 110 & 119 and each of the pink models i've been able to find for each of them so far. figure that'll buy me some time before having to part out "my" collection.
they kept on about the Cherrywood Vantage being "pretty" that i have (don't really care so much for it but love the Vantage so swapped it's clip to left hand for use when pocket CCW in right) so ordered a couple and they arrived today. fit and finish was great and they went right into the girls box.
now gotta get those pink duets for em!
figure even if they don't like em when older hopefully it'll mean something since they are all (aside from the pink color!) versions of what i carry/use daily and in our outdoor recreation. my first Buck (184 w/an older 110 in the pouch) in several years came from my father-in-law which is what got me into Bucks a couple years ago so maybe they'll pass the Buck fever along too. and they are all models i like anyway so i'll be glad to "buy" em back from the girls if they don't want em!
too bad Buck doesn't offer a "my first Buck" like Victorinox does.
