The first one is forged from W2. The etched blade is 4" long with an aol of 7 7/8". The guard is stacked 416ss, 416ss, bronze and 416ss. The handle is African blackwood with a mosiac pin.

This knife features a forged W2 blade. The blade is 5 1/2" long with an aol of 11". The handle is full tang with a slight distal taper. The handle material is green and black linen micarta. The top edge of this knife could be very sharp with a couple passes on a stone.

That first one has everything I like in a hunter. A clip point, W2, a well executed guard and african blackwood. I also like the way the etch shows off the areas of differing hardness produced by your heat treat and quench. Very nice indeed.

Man, sweet stuff Craig. Wishin' I could make the show... I'd be relieving you of one or two of these. I like the hunter, great blade profile and hamon(s). What do you call the second one? Super skinner? Arnold Schwartzenskinner? This one looks similar to the one you had at the AECA show, if my feeble memory is correct.

Hey Craig, Great looking knives in both threads. The elk handle utility just the size blade I like to carry everyday. But definitely have the most fun with second knife on this page. Pure cutting machine.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the comments on the knives.
Your right about the the Swartzenskinner being a larger beefier version of the one at the AECA show. I have had good feedback on the blade to handle angle on that one when skinning and when chopping. The angle seems to naturally drop the edge right into a skinning motion and gives a very aggresive chopping action. You may see one of these in an even longer bladed version soon for the pure chopping machine. :)

I am really liking the W2 Steel. It takes a wicked edge and holds it extremely well. The etch was done on the smaller skinner in ferric chloride. I may also play with one of my other blades and try etching it in boiling apple cider viniger. I am curious if this will pop the temperline more and not change the color of the surrounding areas as much?
