I just got these two, new in the box 120's, an hour or so ago today. They came from one of my "honey holes". I'm pretty happy with them because the only other one I have has that ugly ProLine etch on the blade.

VERY nice Dave. I especially like that 3-liner. Ooops...didn't notice that Idaho mark right away. I was thinking it was an earlier vintage. Still nice aquisitions!

You probably already know this, but many of those blade "etchings" can be removed fairly easily without residual marks.

I'm pretty stoked about them, especially since the last time I can find them in the catalogs is 2001. It's cool having one with the 2005 Idaho stamp and the 2008 stamp.

I want to leave the ProLine as is. I just don't like the etch, but I can live with it.

You did good again, Dave... I like them both... You got good taste in knives and H/D's... ITE ... ... ... ...

Too bad about the blood grooves. That's some real poor and sloppy machining. I picked up an Idaho stamp like that a while back and the blood groove was the same way. Apparently they had some problems with the new operation when they moved.

I sent it back and got a good one.

All the new ones I have are stamped Idaho. I thought they'd have gotten that problem fixed by 2008.

Looks good, Dave. Everyone should have a couple of 120's. What Sheaths did they come with?

Great 120's Dave . I've always liked that model it was my second Buck . I've quartered and boned a lot of big game with it . Sure is useful . DM

Educate me, please.

That's about all I know. There are some post-move 120s out there with hashed-up blood grooves. I had one. I sent it back and got a perfect one in its place.

If you compare the blood grooves to the old ones, the shape is different on the post-move ones. I don't know if there was a new process or just new operators, but Buck had some problems with that operation on the 120.....don't know if it happened on the 119 as well.

I thought it was just a temporary glitch and I'm surprised to see a bad one on a 2008 model, it looks worse than the 05, it's still not right. They haven't made a lot of these in the past few years, just some for Cabela's and a few special orders.

As BG42 says and the 2nd Plumberdv Pics show, it appears that the milling of the grooves was done with a very unsteady cutter.

Here are a couple of examples of, in my opinion, far better blood grooves.

The first is when they were done essentially by hand:

The second pic shows a clean version done with the modern equipment but without the irregularities.
