A friend was moving a deerstand and when he got it moved,he found these two red squirrels. He brought them to me,knowing that I had raised other animals on a bottle, just never any squirrels.I have had them since last saturday and they seem to be doing well.I hope I am able to raise them, and let them go in the yard.I feed the squirrels here in the yard,so maybe they will stay around.

Squirelies are terratorial arent they? Your gonna have to teach these little fellas how to kick sum butt,----cute little buggers.-marekz

Now you've done it. Gone and messed with nature.

But I don't care how good you are. Those little guys are not gonna grow up into 6x6 trophies! :p

good for you Keith . We have bunches here , they are fun to watch , running up and down the trees chasing each other . The wife feeds them shelled peanuts everyday .

Thanks guys,my children have really enjoyed taking care of them.We have lots of gray squirrels here in the yard, but only a couple of red ones.I hope in time, these can be released and maybe they will stay around.

HK thats cool as heck man, I have always wanted a squirrel, had pet coons but never a squirrel. Thise guys look like they mean serious business with those bottles!

Keith, there's quite a bit of info around the internet on raising squirrels. One thing that is important to remember is that you want to release them as soon as possible(once they're old enough). If your squirrels 'bond' with you as they enter puberty, they get very possessive (and aggressive towards others!). You'll want to spend some time finding out what you can do to help them get adopted into the group around your house (girls are more easily absorbed into a family group than males). That said, I got to raise a little rock squirrel this spring, and he was a lot of fun! They're definitely more interesting than most of the rodent family, and they're pretty smart.

Thanks Walter, you're right,I found,''The Squirrel Board'',which is a forum about squirrels, they have really helped me out.My plan is to turn them out as soon as they are big enough.

Thanks,God bless,Keith

How are they doing after a few days on a bottle and whatever you are trying to feed them?
