Finally got my camera/PC situation worked out and I had a chance to snap a few pics of my two new Fieldmates.
Fieldmate #1, my new Kentucky Fieldmate. I really have to compliment KY Turkey for his design on this one. I've had this for over a month and carried it everyday. It makes a great "coat pocket" knife, very comfortable in the hand and really has a level of performance of a much bigger blade. This is a perfect small game hunting knife and great general belt companion. I had mine done with a scandi edge, giving it great bite in wood as well. John's execution, as always, flawless.
I polished the bevels and gave it a slight convex secondary edge. As I mentioned in an earlier post, it scares the hairs off my arm.
Fieldmate #2, my new Yellow Lab Fieldmate, Sam. As some of you might remember, I lost my Golden, Fiona, to Lymphoma on March 9th. I knew when my wife wanted to "visit a few shelters" just to "look" that there might be a new addition in our future. We made it to one and found Sam (his real name is Sampson, but I like Sam). He's been just great, already pretty much housebroken after a week and everyone loves him. He's even had occasion to visit a certain knifemaker's shop.
I haven't had a chance to get him out in the woods yet but he will be tagging along with me soon. I really think he's going to be a great dog.
