Just received a couple of new langet style hawks I ordered a few months ago. Came out better than I'd hoped. It's a small family operation(walkbyfaith777) out of Michigan, and they do gorgeous work. Nicest part of ordering from them is that they give you so many choices regarding the different parts of the hawk; feels like you're ordering a one off, just the way you want it. The longer one is for my brother. He has land in the TN mountains and borders a national forest, where he does a lot of volunteer trail maintenance, so I opted for a more practical design. The shorter one is for me, just to play with while watching Vikings or GOT.

Wow the short one is so beautiful. THe vikings is my favorite show. I really want to get a bearded axe one day just to even hang on my wall!

Very nice indeed! What steel are they made from? Rockwell hardness? I like the Hammer Poll and Langets.

I'm glad to hear from others, I'm not the only person who watches 'GoT' and 'The Vikings' with their toys by them. Heh, heh! I have an 8th C. Viking Battle Axe reproduction that is never more than an arms reach away from me. Ready to do battle with 'the Mountain' or the odd 'White Walker'. It's even handy in case I'm attacked by the 'Zombie Horde' while watching "The Walking Dead". You never know.

VERY NICE!!! I exchanged emails with walkbyfaith777 (actually his wife) several weeks ago. I asked if one could baton on the langet and she said they didn't recommend it. Do you have any experience batoning them?

I'd be bushcrafting the heck out of them to see how they do!

Made from 4140 bar stock. Not sure of the Rockwell rating.
Haven't(and probably won't) tried batoning...
Already thinking about having another made, maybe 13" handle(two pictured are 18" & 15") with the smaller blade, as the long beard tends to scrape knuckles when I choke up under the head. I'll get a real-use report from my brother, as he puts it through some work in the woods...

It just looks like such a logical baton point. If I had one I don't know if I could resist the temptation. Actually I do know, I'd baton it. Sometimes I do stuff just to see if the piece I'm using will resist failure. Then again, these babies aren't my $27 cold steel trailhawk. There are SOG hawks that have metal extensions similar to a langet. Anybody have one? If so, have you ever batoned the piece of metal extending into the top of the handle?

I have a WBF 777 also and I love it. Great maker. His product is top notch and his prices are very fair for what you get.
