I only rarely post pictures of my knives, but I thought these two new knives from Anders deserved a wider audience.

The consistency of his fit and finish is outstanding. His sensitivity to materials and texturing is second to none. And of course his designs are so clearly expressive that everything he does is instantly recognizable as his, even though it also clearly draws deeply from Scandinavian and Japanese heritages.

His knives reward repeated and close examination. And he's a great guy if you ever get a chance to meet him at a show.

He's also done some great collaborations with Don Hansen which are worth seeking out if you haven't seen pics of them.

His next project for me is a shikomizue.

Gabe,

Outstanding pieces, glad you shared them. They are both great, how big is that first one? Looks like a substantial piece. His work is exceptional and certainly you know when it is a Hogstrom. Really nice work.

I hope you feel the desire to share again. If this is any indication you most certainly collect first class work.

Thanks again, Jon

What a telent he is. Congrats on a fine pair of blades Gabe, and thanks for giving us a peek. Both distinctly Hogstrom and both beautiful. The large piece I find particularly appealing.

Thanks for posting these, Gabe. I really like the way Anders uses textures.

Anders Hogstrom has a LOt of talent for sure. Sometimes I like his designs other times not so much.

That larger knife is one of my favorites of his that i've seen. It just has an impressive and sinister look to it. The knives ALWAYS have a finely crafted look to them.

Thanks for posting the pictures.

His designs are so novel and fascinating. His vision is unique and distinctive. I always have a visceral response to his work. Thanks for sharing these. They are inspiring.

We all know that many makers have styles that you can see from across the room. Anders' work is certainly one of them.

His usage of textures and coloring on his fittings, and the unabashedly massive guards and handles create a sense of heft and, for me, a modern throwback to the Weapons of the Middle Ages. Me likes.

In his VERY humble manner Anders wasn't looking to shoot the small knife. "It's just a nice tanto for a good client." Right. Like I was NOT going to let that gem pass without capturing it.... ;)

Congrats on these, Gabe. Thanks for showing them off!
