Hello

I am finally being able to get back to the shop (once again, I got overly busy...) and here are two I have been working on lately. All I need now is to resin soak their handles. the recurve model has beautiful ipê wood handles while the big tanto has bamboo slabs left with its natural texture - it is the first time I have used this material and it looks very nice. This one is going to San Diego in the next weeks.
Let me know what you think.

Excellent work, and I personally like the finish.....would appear to be very low maintenance.

How hard of a time does Brazillian/US customs give you shipping to the states?

Doc

Just curious....what kind of resin do you soak the handles in? Does it get good penetration? Thanks!

Thanks for the comments

Doc - their finish is 60 grit, as a matter of fact, very deep scratches all aligned. put a scratch on this is very, very hard. Regarding customs, US Customs keeps some boxes longer than it should but I have not lost anything I sent to the US so far.

Flatmakr - the resin I use is poliester, the kind used with glass fiber. I don´t make it too thick and squeeze the handle when I am done applying the resin so there are no excess resin on it. Also, it is adivisabel to let it dry handle down. penetrations is complete - when it is dry, the cord turns into a chunk of plastic and you need a grinder to remove it.

Will - They are made to be used - not to delicate nor too light but they are tough and will cut a lot.

IG - Sacanagem!

Good going, Ivan! I like that recurve too, and the handle wraps look great. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your comments.
Johan, it is not not a scandi grind. It is a short chisel grind.
