All too often, I feel knives with very square and thin handles that I dislike. If you look at other tools made to be held, you see thicker profiles, different ergonomics, and altogether different design choices. A handle like the first knife here is what I have always preferred so long as it is assymetircal enough that it wont spin in the hand. I find the squared and thin handles I often find to be uncomfortable. I have been looking more and more at the design of custom pistol grips and match rifle stocks. I think there is much to be found in other tool shapes that can be tapped into....

Sorry, that was a mouthful, but it was bascially me saying that the first knife looks like it was made to be held.

I agree about handles that are to thin my last knife I completed I made the handles to flat because I cut the wood to thin but i went ahead and used it anyway now I want to redo that ones handle this one swung the other way and i prefer this one it fits the hand perfectly no sharp edges and feels secure in your hand without alot of pressure. I plan to continue with the thicker handles.

I took a bit of cheep and soft wood and grinded a handle that fit my hand nicely. I found the thickest part app. 1"thick.
But that is personal.
