I was able to pick up two of my favorite knives ever. The bone I am very excited for. Both look amazing. This is my favorite pattern stockman. Schrade just nailed it.

Can anyone confirm the 881 is actually original bone? It was stated it is, just want to confirm if possible.

This is my Every-day-user I have had since 1973. It has smooth fake bone handles.
Bone always has small marks or dots in the bone, often even marks that look like cracks - never perfect like the fake bone.
The 8OT is pre: 1973.

The first 881s were indeed bone, but they did not look like yours. Yours may have been handled at the factory, but at a much later date (think end-of-days). The bone smacks of the IXL collaboration of the early 1980s or the slightly earlier Parker collaboration knives. There have been three knives similar to yours for sale on ebay in recent months. They are very nice but are not from the pre-1960 run of knives, handle-wise, but the frames/blades are original to that time. It is a really nice knife!:thumbup::thumbup:

Perfect answer! The frame and blades are original so I'm happy. The blonde is nice as well and I got a good deal on it so I'm not worried if it's original. Just excited to get these.

The same knife as your 881 with the Cow bone is on ebay now!
Try " Schrade Walden Cow Bone Premium Stock Knife #881"
If that dose dot work I will post the address after the auction is over.

I did see that one. I think there are 2 others listed? Good to know there are others out there.

I thought that bone resembled my IXL Stockman!

This is a sad day for me. I got both and sadly both will be returned. The 881 has some massive gaps between the liners as well as the handle/liner. To the point I was able to easily see the pins in between everything. The 8ot as well has a large gap in between the handle/liner as well as a fairly large amount of blade play in the blades. I guess my hunt continues for the ever elusive Schrade Walden 8ot.

Thank you! I didn't hesitate paying the $20 the fellow wanted for it at the gun show back in the late 80's! My dad carried one just like it back in the 70's. He lost it while burning feed sacks one night, it wasn't pretty after that!

This is my son's every-day-user, a Pre 1973 model 8OT Old Timer.
