Two of the same

I just bought a second Umnumzaan. It's not a special edition (startac grooves, tanto blade or decorated), it's the exact same knife I already have.

I'm trying to rationalize this one as a back up for my user Umnumzaan, the one I will use in the unlikely event I have to send my faithful knife back to Idaho for a repair. But in the end I know I just bought it because I love this model so much and I just had to have another one.

Now I know some of you sickos (:D) have duplicates of your CRKs. I'm not talking about the several different models of decorated Sebenzas ou Mnandis because to me, knives with different inlays (or the absence of) are different knives. I'm talking about the exact same knife. How do you rationalize when you buy two of the same exact knife? Am I sick? Is there a name for my disease?

Sometimes, even as much as we're careful and love our EDC's, we drop them in 50' waters.

Professor.

I dunno. But try this on for size:

I bought a small Sebenza 21 three-four weeks ago. It has been sitting in the box ever since. I am now wanting to sell all my other knives, because they just don't compare for me.

Two months ago, I was thinking about how Sebenza's seemed like a waste of cash etc.

Today, I am most likely going to be picking up a second one (and an umnumzaan) that is exactly the same, and I haven't even carried the first one yet.

Sometimes it is what it is I guess.

I know!!
I'm also seriously considering selling all my other knives and limit my collection to CRKs and Rick Hinderers. Sorry to steal another member's handle but I think I'm becoming a steel snob. Even when I have a Benchmade in my pocket (the 940, for work) I keep missing and longing for my Umnumzaan and the XM-18.

Nothing Wrong with having two Umnumzaans. I have two Shadow I's; two Shadow III's, 2 Large Regular Plain Sebenzas ( I did get one engraved, but before that it was the same ). See........We Are Both Perfectly Normal !!!

with how many spydercos I find myself wanting, I've decided to limit my CRK knives to one a year. It will make them more special and give me a lot of time to really decide on what I want.

This year is the first year of this experiment, and I got myself a small sebenza 21. I think next year is going to be an Umnumzaan

I may try this, I dont know if I have that much will power though.

I like to buy knives in pairs as well, keep one as a safe queen and use one. Seems to be the best method for me.

Only ONE a Year ???...........I think Only 4 or 5 a Year is Showing Great Restraint !!!

Yeah, well... try waiting tables, getting paid $3.27 an hour, and relying on the kindness of strangers for a living. One a year is a reward for a year's worth of hard work. The only reason I got my Sebenza was because I managed to trade my Benchmade 43 for a decent price.

I commend you, your hard work pays off in the end. Thats what its all about !!!

You probably do have a sickness sorry to say... It must be infectious because I have the
urge to buy a third small sebenza, must... resist... ;-)

I have a pair of Umnumzaan's and a pair of Lg. Regular's.

Probably because I find those two models most compelling. The regular is my favorite pattern, and I got a good trade on the Umnumzaan. :D

at one point I had two Umnums--the proto and a lefty regular. just the proto at this point though. eventually I'll probably get a righty regular.
