So, it turns out that there are repercussions to 1) hunting while 2) breaking a nasty fever and 3) wearing a neck knife inside one's t-shirt.

Whoopsie and horrors of horrors - red rust. Dang, I was just really starting to like that patina...

A bit of sandpaper, rubbing compound and elbow grease later...

It's not perfect but it's ready for more KP and the beginning of a brand new patina...

Yay for hunting season and neck knives but boo for fevers - they make yer knives rusty.

Maybe oil her up next time before an outing? Looks like you got her back to near perfect pretty well though!

rust adds ... flavor too.

best just dip the whole knife in paint :)

I wouldve just sprayed it down with oil then scrubbed it with a gun cleaning brush. I know that sounds ghetto, but its what I do and it works without messing up the patina.

Yep, i'm a sweater. I rusted up a nearly new LCP without a fever, I think it is why I am a glock fan.

I like to say that I sweat to live, and live to sweat. Or something. Either way, it's damn hot and humid down here. That said, I've carried a stripped Kabar Short Recurve (I forget the model #), IWB, without issue, so I have high hopes for carrying a stripped BK2 under my shirt, which will be happening shortly. I think it may have something to do with body chemistry or PH levels or something else I'm not qualified to diagnose, but I have had other knives rust on me, specifically a Carbon V Master Hunter, carried similarly, so maybe it's just dumb luck. Anyhow, I do plan on putting a semi-mirror finish on that BK2, so we'll see.

Good luck Krakoa. I spent a few months in Corpus, and I couldn't close the front door before I started to sweat.

Yeah, and I've been working outdoors all summer, too. At least there's a drought going on, didn't rain for months until this 'cold front' came through a few days ago. Should be an interesting experiment.

because the glock is too thick to ride as close to your skin as the LCP? Don't they both have polymer frames and steel slides?

I'm a fan of beeswax. warm the knife & wax, gently distribute, then buff.

Both are polymer and steel and have been exposed to bare skin, heat, and sweat. The difference is in the tenifer finish on the glock. The lcp(or any other american made pistol) can't have tenifer because of EPA regulations.
