Well, thanks to Venice Will, I now have two of the three "Long Khukuries" I seek. I had the 25" Kobra (Sher, the Tiger Kami) from a previous deal and Will was kind enough to sell me his absolutely pristine 30" Sirupati made by Kumar. Now all I need to fill out the trio is a great big Gelbu Special... of course those are pretty rare and I think it will be a while before I complete this set but who knows? ;)

Anyway, here is a shot of the two I have so far:

Maybe one of the new Kamis will prove able to craft a Gelbu Special of sufficient size for me??? :D

A good sized Gelbu is on my list too but I'm not looking for one quite that large. My 26" Bura Chitlangi and 25" Vim Sirupati fill that niche.

Congrat's Warty on your double.

I asked Yangdu early last year about a custom 23inch Gelbu Special as I wanted its weight not to exceed 32 ounces, but got distracted with other HI custom projects plus I was lucky to get a 25inch Kobra made by Vim Kami that weighed 34ounces and which I use for light chopping duties. :)

Thinking about desirable HI items, seems like now could be a good time to put the Gelbu Special back onto the front burner. ;)

Nice collection and picture

So, can you chop the head off a water buffalo with that? After all, Windlass Steelcrafts claims their giant Khuk can chop the head off one with one swing.:jerkit:
I'd have to see it to believe it.

Ha Ha ....I have one of their Giant khuks. It's like 30" or so. It has like a full half of a leaf spring in it. As Ugly as sin and heavier than H-E double hockeysticks, But if the darn thing was sharp at all it might have a chance.
The best part is i got it off ebay for 25 dollars, it must've cost the guy about that much to ship it to me.:)

Yeah it looks like it's as heavy as a 10 pound sledge. I have 2 of their regular Khuks. They arrived dull as a butter knife. I draw filed one and then honed it to a sharp edge. It was the best chopper I'd ever seen, until I found HI. When I was young, I though it was a nice Khuk. Now I know better. At least I won't cry over it, if it gets broken.
Too bad the handle scales cracked after 20 years. Oh well, that's just a good project. Maybe I'll make replacements from beech.
