Sorry about the quality of these pictures. I only have a web cam with me today. Kydex and leather. WHich makes a better sheath and which looks better? Personally I like leather.

Depends. As a purely functional sheath for heavy use or field carry the Kydex is very nice. For an attractive sheath for daily carry I prefer a nice leather model.

My EDC game warden is having one of each made.

I'm with you. That plastic sheath probably took about five minutes to make. That' not true but I do much prefer leather

I like them both but would have to go with leather. It just looks and feels better.

I do like the kydex with handle retention though.

Thanks man. I want to keep working on my leather. I just got a Dundee rig for my FBMLE from Armoralleather. Beautiful work leatherman does. Maybe in 10 years if I quit my job and work at it all day I could be as good as he.

kydex is nice because you have many more options for mounting it either on your person on on a pack and it is easy to clean out and doesn't retain any moisture. it also is very light.

leather looks better and is not nearly as rough on blades with coating, but it is a bad idea to bring it into a wet or high humidity area because it will retain moisture and eventually corrode your blade.

IMO for edc carrying a fixed blade, leather; for field use, kydex.
