First question, what are they made of? The reason I ask is I sanded the black off the heads to match the raw steel look after I stripped the coating off the blade but later wanted to dark them again to match the color of the modified scales. I hit them with a Q-tip soaked in Birchwood Casey Cold Blue but it didn't change the color one bit so I figured they may be stainless. So I set them in a couple of plastic bottle caps of a Ferris Chloride solution that I acid washed my stainless blades with for ten minutes and again, they came out unchanged.
Second question, after I pulled them out and I thought I put them in a cup to wash and in my disappointment I tossed the bottle caps over the two story back deck.
After washing the female and male fasteners I found I only had one male screw. I must have tossed two screws in a bottle cap over the deck.
I swear I must be getting senile.
I do plan on putting thicker liners to fatten the grip and figure I need to get longer fasteners anyway so where can I get fasteners that match the original ESEE's heads that are made of a steel that will acid stain or blue?
Thanks
