two questions on sebbie

Hi guys. I just received a new Sebenza and have two areas of concern. Maybe some of you could set my mind at ease.
One, after following the Poland 'Zaan test I have been wondering about the possible over extention of the lock bar on the Sebbie. Is this possible during normal use? I like to randomly play with my knives while watching T.V. ect. Should I not do this? I'm thinking I'm being a little paranoid but just want to be sure.
Two, I usually keep change in my front right pocket, this is also my carry pocket, due to the open design of the Sebbie it is possible for coins to get wedged between the frame and blade potentially damaging it. Does anybody have experience with this? I know someone is going to say to keep the change in another pocket but I tried this and just can't seem to do it. Again prob just paranoia but I'm sure some of you can relate.:)

Don't worry about overextension. Normal use it won't happen, it takes a really hard push to overextend like pushing it 1/8" past what is needed to close the knife.

As far as change in the pocket goes, yes it can wedge into the knife and dull the edge. Carry your change in your left pocket :)

I just finished breaking in a large & small Classic by sitting in my recliner at night watching T.V. and opening and closing them no less than 2,000 times each. Thats the best think you can do to a Sebenza.

Move the change! Or the knife...

If you don't mind about your scales getting scratched, that's fine with me, it's not my Seb - but coins could indeed damage the cutting edge.

I also carry my spare change in my right pocket, which is where I carry my Sebbie, never had anything get wedged in there but it is possible, also I do use the pocket clip, which keeps the change away from my knife unless I'm sitting down.

I don't care about the scales, those ARE gonna get scratched, it's a user. The blade is what I'm worried about. I've had it happen to my para-military many times. Oh well, I'll move the change. But I keep my light in my left pocket, maybe a coat...? haha. Who would've thought that owning a little knife would have such an impact on a person as to change life-long habits and force a necessity to learn new behavior.

I definitely wouldn't carry it in a pocket with small loose things. change probably wouldn't do a whole lot if you have it clipped, but if it's just in your pocket, I would be worried about dinging up the blade. there's always the option of carrying IWB.

Although it was a Mnandi, I have had an experience of just that.

Your coins will probably be a different size to ours but there couldn't be a great deal in it. We have a pound coin which was such a nice fit that it was actually jammed between the scales and the first I knew of it was when the blade sunk into my leg. I still have the scar there for my troubles.

After that I moved the coins as I wanted to keep the knife in that pocket.

So it's definitely possible that it could happen with your coins or any other similar sized items so I would be wary of having the Sebbie loose with other things in the same space. Maybe try the leather slip case if you want everything in there?

Your Swbbie can handle a lot harder use than what you describe.

I never keep my Sebbie with loose change. Mainly because I don't want the slabs all scratched up looking. And even if it's a user coins will scratch it must faster. Then again I never liked the scratched up look.

coin pocket. or else stop carrying coins. you can also carry your sebenza in a pouch, or a belt sheath like the ones knivesshipfree has.

I agree with everyone else. Watch the loose change to preserve your edge and don't worry, the knife is tough and can take a lot. Use it with no fears.

after a few years or so (9 in my case) the lock bar can be worn down enough to completely slide to the opposite side when opened. i purchased the lg classic used from this site, so it might be longer.

If it is clipped in , I think it is less likely.
If you carry down in the pocket, just carry it in the calfskin pouch.

Enjoy.
