Wanted to make a quick post to show you two knives just received from John Young. He took my concept of a reduced sized sub-hilt hideout fighter and really hit a home run. 4-1/2" double edged blades are flawless, the reduced size is very slim and fits well in the hand, the "hilts" are just right without being obtrusive, and the handle materials (Mammoth Ivory and Big Horn Sheep) are stunning. The photos say the rest... (sorry or the quality though)....

The stock material was 3/16" and the final dimensions were a 4-1/2" blade and about 8-7/8" overall length. I had him add the fluting on the hilts and the thumb checkering on top. All turned out better than expected.

Those are beautiful knives and John did a fine job on them.

I have always liked that approach to thong holes, as well as the liner material going across the faces.

The checkering is a sweet touch.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

The subhilts, checkering and thong attachments combined with John's exceptional execution and nice handle materials make for some really nice, personalized knives. I'm envious.
