Two smaller knives

Are the two smaller knives basically the same steel as the khukri that they come with? Does taking the knives in and out of the case scratch the blades? I'm trying to keep mine new looking with some Renwax

From what I've read, the chakmak (sp?) is supposed to be harder than the kuk's blade. This so it can be used to burnish the blade. I don't know about the karda little guy. I've read it is not hardened at all.

I believe that neither are tempered so that would make them soft by comparison to the khuk's edge.

I have found that to be the case also, a file test shows all mine to be soft.
