While I'm not a fan of "tacticals" I kinda like these two. Besides, a true enthusiast should have at least a couple of each type. Right?

The top one is a Taclite 886 (wish the serrations weren't there), 420HC blade. The lower one is a Taclite 885, BOS ATS-34 blade with G-10 handles. The button lock release is going to take some getting used to. I just got it today, so I haven't had much time with it.

Plum,
As always, knice nives- I like the little taclite(how big is it actually-little nives just seem so.....little.) Agree with you on the serrations-hate em:thumbdn:

BTW, that towel is going to wear out with all the traffic on it:D

I've got several of those shop towels, so no problem there.:p

The 886 has a 2 5/8" blade (from the long point on handle) and is 6 1/8" overall. The 885 has a 3 5/8" blade and is 8 1/4" overall. Wish it came in a wood handled model.

Thanks for the pictures. Nice pics; nice knives. :)

These were under my radar until now. Definitely going to be looking into them. I sure do like wood-handled Bucks.

I think I'm going to order another of the 885's. My son't best friend is a armed Nuclear Security Officer at a Nuke plant near us. They wear the black swat team uniforms, body armor and all. the last time I saw him he was carrying a cheapo tactical looking thing he bought at Big 5. His birthday is coming up and my son needs to find a gift for him. I think one of those will just fill the bill.

Thanks, going through a bit of a "wood phase" at the moment.

I love the grip g-10 gives, but really like the look of a nice grained wood.

Mostly in contrast to a black blade with either nickel or brass bolsters.

Takes all kinds eh?

:)

Plumber....no model # on knife only "BOS ATS-34 USA" but Box says:

Taclite 0885BKS-B
Cat 5086
7-26-07

Closed - 4 3/4
Open - 8 1/2
Blade - 3 1/2

Hope this helps.

My wife has a wood Taclite in her purse at all times. Recently, we were going to go to a talk at a stadium where they ban everything. I mentioned it to her and she said, "I'd better take my Taclite out, I don't want anyone taking that, I'll never see it again!" That's my girl. (We didn't end up going anyway so it's still in there.) When she takes it out, if any sheeple comment, she says, "I'm a Girl Scout leader" and that's the end of it!

Nice knives! I have a couple of them, myself.

I believe that the little wood-handled one was a Walmart exclusive, a few years back.

Thanks, I don't know about them being WalMart specials. They are in the Buck catalog and the Walmart special exclusives that I have never showed up in the catalogs. For instance the Founders Editions in tins.
