Two thumbs up for Spyderco Factory Outlet

Down here in Denver (we drove down from Cochrane, Alberta, two days) for a week or so visiting kin, so I drove over to Golden this morning and stopped in at the factory outlet store, something that's been on my bucket list for a long time. Once I got back in control of my drool reflex, I spent about 40 minutes circulating through all the great knife displays. Passed up on the Randalls with a sigh of regret that nearly blew out a few windows, and settled on a Mule Team blade in CPM 20CV, a steel I've never tried, along with a fitted leather sheath. Would have gotten the matching G-10 grips too but they were out of stock, so I'll have to try wrapping the handle with paracord until they're available. Oh, and picked up a very nice paring knife for someone's stocking this Christmas. The showroom includes a piece of girder from one of the NYC Twin Towers destroyed on 9/11, very impressive, along with other tributes to US military, police and first responders. I got out with spending only about $160 (in Loonies), not bad considering I could have dropped $50,000 with no trouble at all, except for the divorce. If you're ever in Golden, drop in at Spyderco. (The Coors tour is fabulous as well.)

I hope I will be forgiven for bumping this old thread, but I wanted to also express my appreciation for, and say thank you to, the Spyderco Factory Outlet.

Whenever I am in the area, I drop by for 2 or 3 visits and make a general pest of myself. The staff is always very friendly and willing to show you whatever you may want to chicken-eye and coon-finger. Getting to handle some of the models that I can usually only gawk at on the internet is a real treat.

January is a great month to visit, as there is usually a "stock show special" going on in-store. Also thanks to the thoughtful staff, I was able to get a copy of the 2019 catalog!

It's a fairly easy place to find, so if you're in the area be sure to stop in!

I've only dealt w/the Outlet by phone so far. No complaints.

I don't travel much anymore (too much hassle IMO, especially if you fly) but, if I get to CO, I'll definitely add the Outlet store to my itinerary.

I made the trek to REI's flagship store in Seattle when I was there and it was time well spent. The original (1st) Starbucks shop at Pike's Place, not so much. LOL! ;)

I'm guessing the coffee at the original Starbucks is just as crappy as their coffee is everywhere. o_O

I went to Denver this fall to see my sisters. I made one of them take me to the store. She had "other things to do" so she left me there. Which was perfect for both of us. She came back an hour or two later... I'm not really sure... some time did pass... but how much?? I don't know.

The only thing I actually bought at the store was one of the Clipit Rescue types. I hadn't handled one before and they were selling it for $53 so I went ahead and bought it.

But the important part is that I had a bunch of "I'm thinking about it" knives in my head. Knives I had never actually laid hands on. They sharpened the 10-15 knives I brought with me while I walked the cases and handled everything exotic. Hard to order the top end Spydies if you haven't actually touched them. And it worked... I discovered several of my "maybes" weren't really what I like. So I could mark them off. (At least for now.) But there was one that lit up all the lights and made me realize "it's worth it." I came home and ordered a Perrin PPT. The one I looked at in the store was perfect. The one I got was perfect. What a beautiful knife. My first Taiwanese Spydie. Those scales, wow. I'm not usually a huge carbon fiber fan but the texturing is extraordinary. Love the blade shape. Love the S90 steel. Even the little knotted lanyard is cool. And the lock design. I didn't quite understand what people meant until I held it and really examined it. Genius!

The Spydie store is definitely the place to go if you want to handle them all!
