I lucked into a great deal on a KLVUK earlier this month. One attraction for me was the wider than usual handle.

...15 inch 18 ounce Keshar Lal villager utility knife by Keshar Lal. White metal bolster and buttcap. Natural grain mark on satisal wood handle...

When the triangular box arrived, I had a pleasant surprise.
These photos show it prior to being spiffed up.

The khukuri now has a name: "Two-Face"

very
maybe they had to laminate the grip? ( two kinds of wood glued right?)

Forgot to mention that it's not laminated, looks like a natural variation (heartwood vs. sapwood?).

Very cool, Steve. I got a satisal KLVUK recently, too. It's got a small spot of the lighter wood, nothing close to yours though.

Very nice one of a kind there. I really like the difference in the colors. could be used like a mood ring depending on how ya feel. Love it man enjoy.

Thats sooooo Khul Steve! I thought just the little spot was cool! Who would have known what the other side might look like? I bet Aunti was giggling when she posted that one! Congrats! Are there such things as two faced beavers?

you could call it 'Janus' (<-wiki link) the two-faced roman god.

especially since this is his month (january)

What do you think of the larger handle?

Soon after I got my first KLVUK and noticed how great they are for the price, I sharked another one for my best friend.

The first one I got has a regular/smaller handle and the second one is more like yours. Which I tend to like better. So next time I see my friend, I'll show him both and tell him to keep the one he likes the most. I'm hoping he will chose the smaller handle :-)

What do you think of the larger handle?...

My glove size is 2XL, so I appreciate the chunkier grip. My other KLVUK has a thinner grip that feels surprisingly good and well matched with the blade, though sometimes it seems to want to twist some when chopping (meaning that with my hand size, I probably need to be gripping tighter than I would with a thicker grip.)
