Ok, I have a Benchmade River and Rescue that I have been thinking about modding for quite sometime and now I am finally getting around to it.

So heres the plan I want to Mirror finish all the section that is touching the Benchmade Logo and then satin finish the other two parts. So my question is, is it evn possible to two tone something like this when the bevels are so close to one another and if it is possible what kind of rouge should i buy and how do i keep from constantly scraping the side I am not working on at the moment? The equipment I have is:

220 grit sandpaper through 1200 and a Grinder/ Buffer
A lot a time

Also wanted to put new handle on it but I guess that can wait.

It can be done lAliusl.
I would suggest using a scotchbrite pad to get the satin finish and the buffer for the mirror finish.
It would probably be best to do the mirror finish first and then mask it off with something like super glue which can be removed chemically so the finish won't be altered. Then very careful, hand work the area you want to satin finish with a fine scotchbrite pad till you get the finish you're looking for. Then it's just a matter of wiping off the super glue with some nail polish remover.
I use green chrome to polish stainless, gets it super shiny.

One thing I have to tell you though, be super careful while buffing the knife! Dull the edge before you do any buffing on it. The buffer is the most dangerous piece of equipment in the shop and can shoot a blade back at you so fast you won't even know it happened till you're standing there bleeding. Never let the buffing wheel get near the top edge of the piece you're working! That's when it'll bite you. Don't put your fingers below the edge of the blade while buffing, support the blade from behind. That way if the buffer does catch the top edge it won't cut you.

Hope this helps some!!

Thanks for the information!

I was at a loss trying to figuer out how to keep from scratching the prefinished side.

I will deffiantly try that out and thank you for the saftey reminder also. Probably wouldn't have thought too much about it till I cut myself
