Hello everyone!
Today I got two trappers in mail. Case Ichthus series Mini trapper and Parker-Frost trapper.
Few imppressions:
Parker-Frosts back springs werent as strong as earlier Parker-Frost I received It made opening blades easier. Again surprisingly good fit in all part, no blade play and no daylight shine thru scales / liners / backsprings.
Case Ichthus back springs were stiff. Speyblades were not as stiff as mainblades. Mainblade was almost nail breaker. Finish was good except edge that tore most papers. There are several dull sports in edges. I had to sharpen them before it cut paper cleanly. This Case knife had also worst case of blade play I've ever met in Case knife. Both blades had play, which I fixed with super glue on brassliners but this was suruprising. I mean yes, slipjoints have certain degree of blade play and i accept this but this much blade play with edge that had partially been rolled is pretty much unaccepted for $40 category. Blades were hollow ground for much of my surprise.
After Case so it has no noticable bladeplay and sharpening it. It carries well and cuts very well. Scales were smooth delrin with ichthus logo. Excellent finish otherwise. Pretty hefty for such sized knife. Felt good. Blades were dead center. It turned out good knife but this was first Case knife that I honestly though sending back to Case for repairs but I am glad I got it in 5 minutes good shape wihout using violence or heavy equipment. Glue on liners when it dries does miracles on blade play.
I'll be carrying know Parker-Frost mainly as I can open it with my stubby finger nails. To use Case I need to grow my thumb nail back it was. So I'll be carrying it in few weeks.
