Two year Benchmade 705BT Update

The 705BT was my first Benchmade. I carried it as my EDC knife as well an my camping and work knife (it did everything). Then after a year it became the knife I grab when I am doing hard use stuff (Basically it became the work knife if I didn't want to hurt my 921-BLK). So, after two years of hard use (especially in commercial construction) it has fared very well. Lockup is still tight, no blade play, axis is smooth as ever. The only major wear has been cosmetic. The black on the clip has worn completely off (cleaned it up with a little polish) and the blade has a kinda a bead-blast/stone-wash finish as most of the BT2 has worn off. It also isn't as pointy anymore from all the sharpening and scoring type cuts it has done. It is so nice and refreshing to see something American made that holds up so well under hard use.

Here are the pictures:

Wow! You put some miles on that 705BT good to see you're getting your monies worth.
I love Benchmade' quality

Yea, for something that is gent knife size it is amazingly tough. Those are the kinda pictures knife companies need to post.....pics after a year or two of heavy use. Pictures of a freshh off the assembly line knife don't say much about the quality or how it will hold up.

That is great to see! I recently discovered the 705...I purchase a standard G10 SBT for $90, new! I have only carried William Henrys and though that they were the end all be all in knives. I still LOVE WH, but, I cracked a MOP scale and decided to look for a hard use EDC...the 705 was perfect.

I liked it so much, that I just bought #002/100 705-02 wiht D2. The knife is brand new in box and I plan not to use it until my 705 SBT fails. From the looks of the above, my 705-02 may never get used!

Thank you for keeping the spirit of the 705 alive...I am sorry BM discontinued this knife. I am glad I have one in use and 1 in reserve.

I've been on the fence about buying a 705. Based on this review I think I might take the plunge.

Thanks.
