Anybody know when the major makers are going to start using this? I'm getting annoyed at all the scratches on my type II handles.

I've got a few flashlights with type III HA coating. A few Surefires, a Longbow, and an Arc all in the the green/grey finish they call "natural" and an Inova T1 in black HA finish. Pretty durable stuff and I really like the natural color as opposed to black. It sure helps protect them from scratches and scuffs.

the thing is, it only comes in grey and a dull black
Yeah, so?

For a hard use, tactical-like knife, either color would be fine. I think that's the original post's point, Type III would be a great utilitarian finish.

I have the Inova T1 as well and that's basically the finish I would like. It's makes the type II on benchmades look like flat black spraypaint.

Exactly. All I need it grey or black.
