Tyrade and Inlays

I recently got hold of a Tyrade and am extremely impressed! So much so, that I don't think I would ever use it (and this makes me feel bad).

One thing bothers me though. How secure are the black inlays? I've been told by some people that they both come off with a few days of EDC.

I would like to know if you have the Tyrade, if you have carried it, how long have you carried it and have you experienced any issues with the inlays.

Thanks in advance.

I've carried my for over a month now, and have had NO problem with the cf inlays coming off. They are held on using a pretty strong adhesive. It took a heatgun to loosen them so that I could remove them. I put them back on using superglue and have since carried it for a week or so with no problems. The titanium under the cf is cut out/inlaid in the pattern of the cf inserts, although it is not deeply cut by any means. They are nice, but they are even nicer when you carry them!!:D:thumbup:

My choice was between the Tyrade and ZT 0302.

I'm really happy with the blade shape on the Tyrade, I felt the 0302 was way too wide.

Will try to find those posts of people claiming "this and that.."

I do remember reading a post were the poster said his cf inserts fell off after a few days of carry, and I think he said he superglued them back on.

Probably the same post that got me thinking.

I guess your Tyrade must have had quite a bit of "pocket time" with you? So it must be a freak incident.

What about the brown colouring, has it worn off the edges?

Do the Ti handles pick up scratches easily?

Apologies for this 'inquistion' but prevention is better than cure!

Hey, no problem topspeclt. I have carried it for a little over a month now and have had no problems with the bronze color of the scales rubbing off. They also don't show scratches, but i do tend to "baby" my knives a little bit and try to take care when using them to not mark them up if i don't have too.

I have wondered if the scales are anodized or if the bronze color is another type of coating. Thomas? I have found that anodized surfaces tend to really discolor from fingerprints, and the bronze on the Tyrade scales just doesn't seem to do this. At any rate, I really like the Tyrade, and find it to be a real pleasure to carry.................especially since I refitted the stock pocket clip with a STR deep carry clip. The Tyrade just dissappears in my pocket with nothing but a pen like clip on the outside of my pocket, couple that with the fact that I covered the clip with black 3M Stair Step tape and I wear dark colored pants, and it is virtually unseen.

I've seen the deep carry clip and although it is very practical it's not much of a looker and the swap would take 'some' character out of the Tyrade. The default clip is identical to the Storm II.

I wonder if there are any other options w.r.t clip replacement?

p.S. Cutter17 -Now I know why you bought two! It's too beautiful to be used and it's too useful to be locked away.

Have you also noticed how SHARP it is given the thickness of the blade?!

That's it. I'm doing a review....

I can agree to the plainess of the deep carry clip, but it is the plainess I am wanting as that works in my favor in keeping this knife "low key"! I actually ended up selling my original Tyrade to a friend who absolutely would not leave me alone. It was his 4:00AM call one morning that finally sealed the deal. I figured anyone up that late/early, and calling about a knife, was deserving of it. Anyway, I agree with the sharp edge on this knife and I like the high grind on the edge. I will be looking forward to reading your review! Btw, with the strict laws, how do you get by carrying the Tyrade? Email me if that is something you would rather not discuss. Btw2, I think you will enjoy carrying your Tyrade!

So the Tyrade is now what men stay up thinking about?

Forget about women, the heart break, deception, nagging, grief etc.

Tyrade - looks beautiful all the time, works perfectly all the time and the only grief you get is people wanting to have it.

I love my knife, but not my wife. :foot:

Kidding guys.;)

BTW: IT was good of you to help your friend!
