:D Finally heard from where I had the Tyrade on order and they have arrived. Mine will be here on Saturday, if the USPS cooperates that is, and I've already talked to STR about doing me one of the low rider deep carry clips he has designed for the Tyrade. I'm sure this has been posted somewhere and I've probably already read it, but..........according to the specs the blade is somwhere near 3.6" in length, and the total weight is around 6.7 ounces. What I would like to know is; how thick is the blade and how thick are the titanium handles? Thanks!

im not sure but i would also like to know. i just paid for one and it should be here soon. i cant wait!

I find specs on the Tyrade in several places and in all of the descriptions the titanium handles are described as "beefy". From seeing pics of the blade in relationship with the handles, the blade appears to also be "beefy". I'm just curious as to the numbers. I'm guessing somewhere around .150"~ for each.

Qualitatively they are thick and very thick....in exactly that order. You will like it. The Speed Safe on that the Tyrade is tuned up to deliver a very satisfying kick and there are few knives out that look that good.

Oh I'm definately looking forward to it and also looking forward to the low rider clip that STR is making that fits the Tyrade. I don't know why I am so anal about having those low rider clips that tuck the entire knife in the pocket, but I am.

.150" is alotta beef! If that guess ends up being anywhere near accurate, I will be even more impressed with the Tyrade. Out of my price range for the time being, but I sure wouldn't mind fondling one at some point...

*makes plans to check local shops*

On mine, I measure 13/64" (.203in)(5.16mm) max blade thickness
Handle thickness is 9/64" (.140in)(3.56mm) each.
Overall thickness at 31/64" (.485in)(12.3mm).
Overall does not include the carbon fiber inserts.
I don't have a scale here but feels like a couple oz less than the ZT0301,
which would put it around 6.7oz as mentioned earlier.

Hope that helps.

And YEAH, the Speedsafe is like a bull coming out of the gates.

Actually the CRK large Sebenza's have .150" frames, so maybe the Tyrade will be even thicker than that. I know that at a certain point it is just overkill with the thickness, even though, I still like thick over thin!

Thanks for the info 2b. Guess we were posting at the same time. So the blade, at .203", is thicker than the titanium handles, at .140", and that is going to be a HANDFULL!!!

The Tyrade has hit town, and a VERY nice Tyrade it is. Haven't had time to do more than just play a bit but so far I really like what I see. Only thing I have done is to tighten my pivot a little so that an index finger flip brings the blade out about 4/5th's of the way and then a little index finger nudge on the flipper locks it up solid and tight, and all within a second or two. Ya'll are just going to have to overlook my anal tendencies for a tight pivot! Fit and finish are first rate. Blade is centered within the frame when closed and as I said the lockup is tight and solid. I haven't even tried the edge out yet but can say it "feels" sharp and the grinds are perfect. I did pull out the micrometer so here are some unofficial specs:

handle width: .135" not including the cf inserts
blade width: .150" thick

I've talked with STR and my low rider clip went out yesterday so it should be here on Monday/Tuesday and then the Tyrade will join my edc rotation and my ZT0500 MUDD can take a little break.

Think I'll enjoy carrying the Tyrade. It will be the "smallest" knife in my edc rotation, very close overall to my large Classic Sebenza, but due to it's thick/beefy build it will still be a "large" knife in my mind................can you follow the reasoning?!?! In fact it sorta reminds me of a bulldog, compact, but thick and strong!:D:thumbup: Good job Kershaw!

ALL RIGHT, my low rider STR clip was in the mail box when I got home from work today! To say I was happy is an understatement. I have degreased the new clip and applied some of the 3M Stair Step tape. Not only does the tape make the clip harder to spot, but it also gives your thumb and forefinger a great grip when removing the knife from your pocket. Proceeded to remove the original clip, applied a small drop of blue loctite to each hole, and screwed on the new deep carry clip. TOTAL PERFECTION! The new clip covers the cutout on the framelock so that it will be harder to over extend the lock when unlocking. In that same vein, Kershaw has done a good job with taking out any vertical play there would be when you squeeze the handle. On a lot of framelocks when you squeeze the handle the frame lock will move upwards on the blade tang a fraction which might change the lockup. This happens because of the cut made to allow the frame lock to exist. On the Tyrade, Kershaw has cut the blade tang so that there is a "ledge" on the tang that covers the top of the framelock when it moves over, thus there is absolutely no vertical movement possible............a neat little touch if you ask me, still a neat touch if you don't ask me.:D But back to the clip. This is exactly what I want in a pocket clip; perfect fit, thin as far as the width of it, it does not stick out like a sore thumb (no insult meant), and it puts the entire knife into my pocket with nothing but the clip showing!!:thumbup::D

One more thing to cover about the Tyrade. This knife is thin enough to ride very comfortbly in my pocket, but robust enough to take care of any chore I will need a knife to do. Just see the specs I listed in the previous post.

So, I have put the ZT0500 MUDD up for a much deserved rest and have strapped on the Tyrade. Hell yeah, we ready for anything!!:thumbup::D

The Junkyard Dog II and ZT0300s also share this design feature...possibly most Kershaw frame (and liner) locks do...way to go Kershaw!

Good to hear you're happy with your Tyrade, cutter...:)

The pressure is on! guess I need to read up on how to post pics, or easier, just go for the gold, Gold Membership that is. One day soon I will amaze and astound, when I post pics. Until then, just remember, "a thousand words is worth one picture."
