Tyrade for low rider clip

I have an outstanding order from a young man for a new pocket clip for his Tyrade in tip down carry right hand but he wants one of my low riders.

So that will be coming up shortly.

Sorry for the delay my friend. I'm just getting back to the shop today.

Got a good start on this one and will fold it over here shortly. Its rough yet but cut out of the titanium sheet and ready for the final steps.

This one is just a few steps from being completed. May have a couple tweaks to fit it but its close to shape, still needs trimmed up and then the final bends done.

I got this done today but my scanner is messing up. I think the power cord has a break in the wire where I plug it in so I was unable to scan the results of any work done today. I'm hoping to hear back from the company about a replacement A/C adapter for it. Everytime I tried to scan it said problem finding hardware and I'd notice the power light is out again. If I hold my hand right there where it plugs in it works but as soon as I let go it messes up again so for now I guess I'm without it until I figure something out.

EDIT: I did get it to work with some tape for one scan. Now its acting up again so I'm still messing with it but this is all I needed for this clip. I thought I did this this morning before mailing out your clip to you but for some reason I guess I didn't hit submit so let me try this again since I can't even find my post. Here is a pic of your clip on my Tyrade. This is some knife I'll tell you that. I've been carrying this one around since I had to use it for your clip and can't find any real fault with it at all other than the clip and one mount option. Kershaw still keeps knocking out some really great stuff huh?

hello, i;m the one who ordered the clip, looks great.i wish you can work as a consultant for some of these knife companys on things like this.boy could masters of defense & paragon could have used you when they were thinking of mounting their pocket clips(especially the dieter model)!thanks again. mike.......:thumbup:

got it today, its great! tyrade disappears in the pocket; thanks again. had this knife just before christmas,now is the first time i;m carrying it......
 
Yep. I know the feeling. The clip was the big turn off to me as well. I had to make it right before I could even take to the folder also. Of course mine was more involved than yours though since I wanted it tip up carry.

I like this knife a lot from Kershaw though. Its a fine example of how they lead the pack and another fine example of Ken Onion's understanding of symetry beauty and function all coming together as a whole. I have owned all the Zero Tolerance knives and thought the ZT301 and 302 walked on water but I like the Tyrade better than those for both the blade steel, and the weight diff. Its probably my favorite big knife right now overall and a lot of that has to do with the new clip I put on it because I'd never even been able to get to know it with that original on there personally.

I'm glad you like it and can now put it to work.

Hi STR. Can or have you ade the same clip for a JYDII Ti handle? Also, do you still have the pattern for the Tyrade clip so that a person can order the clip w/o sending in the knife? These are two knives I would love to be able to carry but absolutely WILL NOT with the clip as it is. I would love to be able to order one for the Tyrade and one for the JYDII that may be coming this week! Please let me know and I might finally get to order a clip from you as I've asked enough questions about them!:eek::thumbup::D

That would be fine STR. Would the JYDII clip pretty much resemble the Tyrade's? I really like what you did with the tyrade! I'm hoping to have the JYDII at the end of the week so I'll give you a holler on the email when I get it so I can get everything together. Don't have a Tyrade yet either, but have one on order from a guy who will get them sooner or later. Thanks for the info!!
 
No I don't believe they are the same. The Tyrade uses the same clip as at least one other Kershaw but I don't recall right off which one. I know its the same though.

I used to have a model of my own for both of the JYD knives and those clips are wide set. On my own I flipped the clip to tip up carry on both. Those are somewhere around here or on the Kershaw forum posted in a thread started by Vassili.

I don't recall what the title was but it was a JYD thread and one of the early ones from when it first came out. I have not made low rider clips for the tip down mode on either knife though.
