UPS dropped off my 3rd Tyrade this morning. The first one I had got sold and the second was given to my son, so the third stays with me! As part of the deal for giving my son his, I told him whenever I picked up another one I would get the STR deep carry clip back from him, as it was mounted on the one I gave him. We are going to send his in though for another clip.
So what to say that I haven't already said in several other posts. I can say that the lockup on the framelock is identical to the others I had, fit and finish is excellent, as were the other two, and it just feels great in my hand! Of course it came with that hair popping edge that sends hairs popping up whenever the edge makes contact. Other than replacing the clip all I did was to take it apart and clean the insides, including the bronze washers, and apply some miltec lube. At the same time I did give the lockbar some more bend.......did this on the second one I had.........so that it takes a dedicated desire to push that lockbar over in order to close the blade, still doable with one hand, and there will be no accidental unlocking with this one. Had to take a the thin pen blade on my SAK Exceutive to pry up the edge of the carbon fiber, do this on the non clip side, and then slowly move it along to the other end. Three screws to take out and then the pivot screw and the knife is apart. Reassembling is not hard at all, just get everything lined up, including the Speed-Safe mechanism and your good to go.
The more I carry and handle the Tyrade series of knives the better I've come to appreciate them. The beefy build, in both the ti handle slabs, and blade thickness is something I always wished to see happen in the CRK Sebenza line. I know the Umnumzaan is a step up with it's thicker blade stock, but weight only increases by .02 of an ounce, and it just did not feel right o me as I like my knives to be on the heavier side due to the solid feeling they give, especially when you are talking about a quality piece of cutlery.
So there you have it, my third Tyrade and it is a definate keeper, especially since it is my Thanksgiving present from me to me!!
Man, can't wait for Christmas!
