I just wanted to share this recent gladius that I made on wednesday. It features purpleheart hilt and pommel and tulip wood for the handle. The blade is a Maintz patterned gladius.

Thanks for looking.

Slightly off angle hilt picture to show the beautiful purpleheart.

This particular one is made for stage combat use and was made out of our medium carbon alloy heat treated to 50rc. It is also available in high carbon for sharps. We have a sheet of 1084 that we are working with right now.

Here is another shot of this sword. An angle from the pointy end!

Very lovely! Not being a traditionalist, I like the pattern of your other gladius a bit better, but I love the looks of that purpleheart. Pricing comparable between sharps and stage?

Most of the time sharps and blunts are about the same. Some things we charge $25 more for a sharp. In this case it would actually be about $200 difference do to the extra cost for the 1084. Just was pricey this time around. No way around it.

So as pictured as a stage use piece it would be right at $500. About $700 for the sharp. (I always toss in extra detail on pricer pieces though).

Im sending you a PM...

Really cool. I've always liked the maintz and hispanensis patterns better than the more widely known pompeii style. What are the stats on it?
